Unfortunately, late registration can no longer be accepted. Students must register on-line during the registration dates listed on the high school course list page.
Should I wait until I know my grade before I register?
The registration dates for each term do allow you some time to assess the difficulty level of the course and to determine how well you think you might do in the class, but be sure you register by the registration deadline for each term, or you will not be able to register for the college credit. It is important to register during the registration period so you will appear on the grade roster for the ACC Instructor to complete. If you decide you do not want the college credit for a class you have registered for, you have until the last day of the registration period in the term you are registered, to drop the college class. If you miss the drop deadline, you will be responsible for a grade posting to your transcript.
Should I wait until my senior year to register for all my eligible courses?
No, do not wait until your senior year to register for the college credits. You must register for your college credit(s) each year as you take the courses. Most ACC courses are Junior and Senior level classes, but there may be some exceptions to this.
How will I know I’ve received the college credit?
You are able to check your student transcript on-line through the myClackamas system at https://my.clackamas.edu/
Please note a class will not appear on the transcript until a grade has been posted for the class.
How will I know if these credits will transfer to my choice of college?
It is always important to check with the college or university you plan to attend to know how these credits will be applied. It is smart to register for the credits now, even if you are unsure of how you will use them in the future. Often times students near the end of their college program and find they are a credit or two short and if they had only registered for the college credit available through ACC, they would not be short. College credits can also be beneficial for military salary placement and employment opportunities.
What colleges/universities accept ACC credits?
The list of institutions that have accepted ACC credits are listed here. This list is not all inclusive, but is a growing list as each year we hear back from participating students about where they attended and how the credits were received.
What is the difference between ACC and AP?
ACC and AP are two different programs and ways for students to earn college credit while in high school. The Advanced College Credit Program is a local partnership between Clackamas Community College and area high schools. The high school submits courses and instructors for approval to grant college credit. The college reviews instructor credentials to meet our hiring standards and departments review course curriculum for alignment with the college curriculum. When an instructor and course are approved an agreement is put in place to grant college credit for the approved course at the high school. These credits are posted to a CCC transcript and can be transferred to colleges and universities around the country. For further information: http://depts.clackamas.edu/acc
AP is a national program run by the College Board with standardized curriculum and a standardized exam. Credit may be awarded based on the score earned on this exam. Each college and university has their own policy of how they award credit based on the AP exam scores. Usually a score of at least a 3 is required for course placement and a 4 or 5 is necessary for credit. For further information: http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/
