NORTHWEST CHAMPS THREE OF THE LAST FOUR YEARS!!

The Cougars have had a history of excellence, both academically and athletically, competing in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College Conference; the NWAACC, with 35 participating colleges, is the largest independent junior college conference in America!

For the last 20 years, the Clackamas Cougars have been synonymous with excellence...

CCC’s Southern Region Dominance

Historically, since joining the NWAACC in 1984, Cougar teams have won four NWAACC Championships, and placed a total of 12 times at the NWAACC tournament! The Cougars have now qualified for nine consecutive NWAACC Tournaments; additionally, CCC men have placed 8 of the last 9 years at the tournament. Since 2001, Clackamas is the only men’s program to qualify for EVERY NWAACC championship tournament. No other team in the Northwest has been as consistently excellent!

During that same span of time, the CCC men have won a total of 24 games at the NWAACC tournaments, placing 1st (twice), 3rd (twice), 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th, while achieving a spectacular record of 24-11 and winning 69% of its tournament games against the NWAACC's best teams!

The Cougars have qualified for eight consecutive NWAACC Tournaments. Head Coach Clif Wegner has been named Southern Region Coach of the Year for the 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2008 seasons, including NWAACC Coach of the Year in 2007.

Academic Performance!

Since 2001, the men’s basketball program has produced 22 members of the NWAACC All-Academic Team, including the NWAACC Scholar- Athlete for 2005 (Wes Jensen) and 2006 (Martin Axnick.) We pride ourselves on our academics and also on helping our student-athletes move on to four-year institutions. We are the only NWAACC program with an athletic academic advisor. Our program features mandatory study halls and academic support second to none!

Special recognition also goes to the 2007 team, who achieved a team GPA of 3.43 and an average of 15 credits for winter term while they were winning the NWAACC championship! It was the most impressive academic finish ever for a men’s basketball champion.
