Week 3/Apr. 17

Lesson 2: Letterhead
In this week's lesson you will create a new kind of PageMaker file called a template. This is a handy file format for saving "boilerplate" documents (like stationery) which can be pre-printed and then customized for each use. You will actually create two files: one for the letterhead and one for the envelope and card (that's because they require different page orientations: one is tall and one is wide). You will also

  • change your default measurement system from inches to picas

  • learn a nifty trick for creating a logo with type

  • create a custom color palette using spot colors and tints

  • resize, reflect, and rotate a text block

  • group separate objects together into a single entity

  • copy objects from one file to another by clicking and dragging

  • discover the Lock Position and Non-Printing commands

This week's assignment is due in my e-mailbox by noon Monday, Apr. 24.

Questions about how to do your lessons?
Check out Weekly Lesson Plan for tips on the correct way to complete and submit your assignments. Be sure to follow the e-mail guidelines for all e-mail messages and file attachments you send to Bill.

Welcome to the Conference Room!
Most of you have found the Conference Room and logged into our Blackboard Discussion Board. I enjoyed meeting you and look forward to hearing more from you in the coming weeks. Use the Discussion Board to ask questions and discuss issues that come up as you work through your PageMaker lessons. Don't be shy; let's talk!

If you haven't done so already, click on Conference Room and log in to Blackboard. If you're new to Blackboard or need to set up a new Blackboard account, go to Getting Started in Blackboard.
