Course Description
This course addresses methods for business professionals to use the Internet for business research, peer networking, information searches, customer access, and customer service. It identifies different methods for searching and evaluating information sources on the Web. The course introduces the use of the Internet as a source for acquiring in-depth information on business management policies and practices, financial information, organizational behavior, and human resource management. This also includes the use of the Internet as a tool in the process of career planning, searching for job opportunities, and the development and posting of an electronic resume.

Getting Started in Blackboard 5.5

Blackboard is the software program used for most online courses at Clackamas Community College. It's easy to use and provides a convenient "one stop" center for all your online classes. To get started, just follow the steps below:

Step 1: Go to Blackboard

In your web browser, go to http://bb2.clackamas.edu (or click on the Blackboard icon to the right). This will take you to the login page for Blackboard.

If you already have a Blackboard account:

  • click on the “Login” button

  • provide your username and password

  • go to Step 3

If you do not have a Blackboard account:

  • click on the “Create Account” button

  • go to Step 2

Step 2: Create your Blackboard account

  • Fill in the information requested (note: you must provide an accurate email address when you create your Blackboard account!)

  • create a username and password for yourself (and write them down somewhere so you won't forget!)

  • click on the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page

  • Click “OK” on the next screen

Step 3: Find your course

  • Click on the green “Courses” tab near the top of the screen

  • On the right side of the screen under “Course Catalog,” click on the appropriate category for your course (usually it will be the current term, followed by subcategories representing subject areas)

------- OR -------

  • Search for your course by title or number in the “Course Search” box on the left of the screen

Step 4: Enroll in class

  • After you've browsed the categories or conducted a search, a list of courses will appear. Locate the name of your course in this list, then

  • Click on the gray “Enroll” button to the right of the course’s name

  • Click on the “Submit” button at the bottom of the next page. This will send an enrollment request to your instructor by email.

Please note: Blackboard will give you a message telling you that your login request has FAILED. This is not accurate, however, and you should not be concerned; your enrollment request is proceeding as you intended.

Step 5: Wait for confirmation of enrollment

  • You will receive an email message confirming that your instructor has enrolled you in the course and containing a direct link to your course

  • Once you receive this email, log in to Blackboard again (http://bb2.clackamas.edu) and you will now see a link to your course under “Courses in which you are participating”

If you do not receive an email within a few days (giving your instructor time to respond to your email request), check back in Blackboard to see if you’ve been enrolled.
