Geology of the Northwest

Geology of the Pacific Northwest is a course designed for people interested in understanding the geology they see around them every day. This course is open to all students (even if you have never taken a geology class) and will cover basic geological concepts as needed to understand Oregon's geology. With an emphasis on Oregon we explore the geology and Northwest landscapes as interpreted through the Northwest's historical development. We will focus on environmental problems posed by each of the unique regions of the Pacific Northwest and you will learn to recognize the basic rock types common to the Oregon country. For your own satisfaction, learn to recognize and appreciate geologic landscapes as you travel the Northwest.
