Geology 101/201
Geology 101/201 is taught in the fall and introduces geologic principles such as plate tectonics, volcanic processes and hazards, earth structure, earth cycles, the origins of igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks, soil development and mineral environments. These classes are taught in conjunction with hands-on laboratories which emphasizes identification of principle economic ores, rock forming minerals and basic rock types. Additionally, an optional field trip or two will be scheduled to visit local geology so students can see first hand the different aspects of geology discussed in class.

LINKS FOR CLASS TOPICS
The following list of links was compiled as a useful resource for students to gain a better understanding and perspective on the topics introduced in lecture and lab. It's purpose is two-fold. First it should provide you with a way to acquire more in-depth knowledge on subjects that interest you. Second, it provides alternative ways to present some of the topics we discuss in class. This list is not all inclusive, so search the net on you own. If you find any cool sites (or if any of the sites I have listed are a bust) let me know what they are and I will add or subtract accordingly!
