Geography is the study of the relationship between human beings and their planet. It's not just memorizing place names on a map! Geographers explore the question of where things are located, then try and explain why they are located there rather than somewhere else. As geographer George Demko once said," Geography is the why of where..."
The geographic perspective concentrates on five key concepts:
Space - describing and mapping where things occur across the earth. Place - description of the unique location of things. Regions - areas sharing distinctive combinations of features. Scale - levels of similarity and difference between one place and another. Connections - relationships among places and regions across space and time.
